Erie, PA (December 7) – The Erie BayHawks defeated the Long Island Nets this afternoon 114-105 behind Stephen Zimmerman’s franchise record 24 rebounds.
Erie opened the game on an 11-2 run and did not relinquish the lead the remainder of the contest. The BayHawks started hot, shooting 56% from the floor behind 18 points from Ramon Galloway in the first half. The Nets responded with a short run in the third but it was cut short by a Galloway three-point play and a three-pointer from John Petrucelli to beat the buzzer at the end of the quarter.
The Nets grabbed their first tie of the game with 2:40 to play but TJ Price answered with a driving layup to retake the lead with 1:34 on the clock. Trahson Burrell hit on a put-back layup moments later to re-tie the game at 99. Both teams failed to score in the closing minute and the game went to overtime. The BayHawks opened overtime on an 8-2 run with four different players scoring to secure the win.
Erie had four players score at least 20 points with Galloway posting a game-high 32 points on 13-of-23 shooting from the field. Price added 23 points, including 14 in the second half, five rebounds, and six assists. Petrucelli had 20 points and six rebounds on 8-of-11 shooting.
Long Island had six players score in double-digits, paced by 23 from JJ Moore. Burrell and Chris McCullough, on assignment from the Brooklyn Nets, chipped in 19 apiece.
