SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — The Salt Lake City Stars (6-16), the D-League affiliate of the NBA’s Utah Jazz, led the entire game en route to a 129-94 victory over the Grand Rapids Drive (11-13).
An explosive 35-point first quarter set the tone for the Stars, who were led in scoring by Marcus Paige’s 22 points, including five three-pointers. It marked Paige’s team-leading fifth game of 20-or-more points.
Utah Jazz assignee Raul Neto recorded 14 points, 12 assists and nine rebounds, becoming the first Stars player this season to record 10-plus assists in a game. Also on assignment from the Jazz, Alec Burks poured in 13 points and added five rebounds and three assists.
Salt Lake City had five other players score in double-digits, including Jermaine Taylor (17), Tyrone Wallace (16), Jeremy Williams (14), Michale Kyser (10), and Sundiata Gaines (10). The 129 points scored tied a season-high for the Stars, previously set in a double-overtime game (at Texas, 11/15).
The Drive were led by Trey Freeman’s 22 points on 8-of-13 shooting from the floor.
