AUSTIN, Texas – The Austin Spurs (13-17), presented by SWBC, fell to the L.A. D-Fenders (24-6) 130-119 at the H-E-B Center at Cedar Park Thursday evening.
Hollis Thompson led the Spurs with 26 points (9-16 FG, 6-7 FT) and 5 rebounds in 38 minutes. Off the bench, Charles Garcia contributed 18 points (8-14 FG, 2-4 FT) and 6 rebounds in 25 minutes, while Patricio Garino chipped in with 18 points (5-10 FG, 2-4 3P, 6-9 FT) and 2 rebounds in 37 minutes. Jeff Ledbetter finished with 17 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists in 28 minutes off the bench.
After a tough loss against the D-Fenders only four days previous, the Spurs stayed neck-and-neck the first 2 quarters, with 14 lead changes and 18 ties, down by one (71-70) going into the half. The D-Fenders began to pull away in the third quarter, up by as many as 8 points, but the Spurs battled back. Arcidiacono tied the game at the end of the third (98-98) with back-to-back three pointers. In the fourth, the D-Fenders were able to gain their largest lead of the game and sealed the win.
For Los Angeles, Josh Magette finished with 26 points and 9 rebounds in 37 minutes, while Vander Blue chipped in 23 points and 4 rebounds in 37 minutes.
