HOFFMAN ESTATES, Illinois — The Windy City Bulls (19-24), presented by BMO Harris Bank, the official NBA Development League affiliate of the Chicago Bulls, fell 112-108 to the Austin Spurs on Friday night at the Sears Centre Arena despite seven Bulls scoring in double-figures.
Alfonzo McKinnie and Wesley Saunders paced Windy City in scoring with 18 points apiece. McKinnie added 10 rebounds for a double-double while Saunders chipped in five rebounds and four assists.
Recently acquired forward David Laury III came off the bench to score 14 points and corral a game-high 16 rebounds. Jon Octeus (13 points), Jarell Eddie (12 points), Alec Brown (10 points) and Duje Dukan (11 points) rounded out the double-figure scorers for Windy City.
Austin (20-23), the NBA D-League Affiliate of the San Antonio Spurs, received a game high 29 points from Orlando Johnson. Livio Jean-Charles added 18 points and seven rebounds.
After a back-and-forth first half that featured five lead changes, Austin built a double-digit lead late in the second quarter, taking a 62-55 advantage into the locker room at the break behind 17 first half points from Johnson.
Austin built their biggest lead of the game, 77-65, with 7:15 remaining in the third quarter before the Bulls began to mount a comeback.
An offensive rebound and stick-back layup by McKinnie pulled Windy City within a point, 103-102, with 3:48 to play in regulation but the Spurs answered with four consecutive points en route to their victory.
Austin outrebounded Windy City 41-38 on the night while also shooting 57% from the field compared to 45% by the Bulls.
