AUSTIN, Texas — The Austin Spurs (24-24), presented by SWBC, defeated the Oklahoma City Blue (32-16), 125-109, at the H-E-B Center at Cedar Park Sunday evening.
Charles Garcia led the Spurs off the bench with 22 points (7-8 FG, 8-10 FT) and 5 rebounds in 20 minutes, while Jeff Ledbetter contributed 20 points (7-10 FG, 6-8 3FG), 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals off the bench in 26 minutes. San Antonio assignee Bryn Forbes posted 16 points and 7 assists in 31 minutes.
Oklahoma City had control for the first frame, but Austin never let them get ahead by more than seven points. It was not until Jeff Ledbetter’s three-point shot at the buzzer at the end of the first quarter that the Spurs gained their first lead, 29-28. The beginning of the second quarter stayed close with three ties and two lead changes, but the Spurs were able to stay ahead for the last six minutes of the half. Oklahoma City went into the locker room trailing Austin by five points (58-53), led by Garcia’s (15) and Ledbetter’s (14) double-digit points off the bench.
Austin held the lead for the entirety of the third, finishing the quarter ahead 12 points (96-84). In the fourth quarter, the Spurs reached their biggest lead of the game, 22 points, to sink the win. Austin outshot Oklahoma City from the three-point line, shooting .483 (14-29), while holding the Blue to .174 (4-23).
Alex Caruso led the Blue with 20 points and 3 assists in 29 minutes, while Josh Huestis recorded 18 points and 7 rebounds in 28 minutes.
