LONG ISLAND – The Long Island Nets (1-2) fell 96-92 to the Greensboro Swarm (2-1) in a back-and-forth contest on Thursday night.
Nets center Kamari Murphy notched Long Island’s second double-double of the season, also his second, with a team-high-tying 19 points and 10 rebounds in 34 minutes. Forward J.J. Moore also had 19 points in the game in 28 minutes off the bench.
Murphy led Long Island in the first half with 13 points to put the score even at 46. For Greensboro, forward Jalen Jones led the way at the half with 10 points off the bench. He ended the night with a game-high 23 points and a double-double of his own with 11 rebounds.
In a game that consisted of 14 lead changes, a one-point lead was traded multiple times in the final minute before a Swarm 3-pointer from guard Marcus Paige gave the visitors a 92-90 lead. Greensboro held onto that final lead to top the Nets by four points.
The Nets play their next game on Sunday in a 3 p.m. ET contest against the Grand Rapids Drive at the Coliseum. The Swarm will host the Erie BayHawks on Tuesday, with tipoff scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.
