SOUTHAVEN, Miss. — The Memphis Hustle lost to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, 138-136, Friday in a high-scoring, back-and-forth game at Landers Center. With the game tied at 136-136, Vipers guard Briante Weber hit a running floater at the buzzer to end the game.
It marked the third straight Hustle home game that has been decided by four points or less and also the third straight game in which both teams led by at least nine points.
The Hustle set a single-game season-high for any NBA G League team for field goals in a game (55). However, the difference in the game was at the 3-point line, with the Vipers making 13-of-30 (.433) attempts while the Hustle shot just 4-of-22 (.182).
Ivan Rabb, on assignment from the Grizzlies, led the Hustle with 27 points on 10-of-12 shooting to go with eight rebounds. Trahson Burrell recorded his second straight double-double (17 points, 10 rebounds) while Vince Hunter (16 points, nine rebounds) fell just one rebound shy of his second straight double-double.
Also on assignment from the Grizzlies, Wayne Selden and Deyonta Davis scored 15 points apiece. Kobi Simmons (15 points) and Omari Johnson (14 points) also reached double figures for the Hustle.
Weber led Rio Grande Valley with 27 points on 12-of-15 shooting from the field, along with seven assists and six rebounds. R.J. Hunter also scored 27 points, knocking down 6-of-12 three-point attempts.
