SOUTHAVEN, Miss. — Leading wire-to-wire, the Memphis Hustle recorded their second straight win, defeating the Delaware 87ers 101-98 at Landers Center on Saturday. The Hustle jumped out to a quick 10-2 lead and would lead by as many as 20. Delaware outscored Memphis 26-14 in the final nine minutes to pull within three.
Memphis made more field goal attempts (41-of-85) on 20 less shots than Delaware (39-of-105). Additionally, the Hustle shot 8-of-18 (.444) from three-point range while Delaware shot just 9-of-38 (.237). Delaware’s work on the offensive glass (16-5) gave them a 20-8 edge in second chance points and kept them within striking distance.
Omari Johnson (17 points, 10 rebounds) recorded his second straight double-double while Trahson Burrell (20 points, eight rebounds) had his second straight game with 20 points. Austin Nichols contributed 18 points and seven rebounds on 8-of-15 shooting. Marquis Teague (15 points) and Dusty Hannahs (11 points) also scored in double figures.
Christian Wood led the 87ers with 27 points and 12 rebounds on 11-of-19 shooting to go with three assists, three steals and three blocks. Devin Robinson (18 points, 10 rebounds) also posted a double-double for Delaware.
