DES MOINES, Iowa — The Iowa Wolves (3-8) snuck by the Austin Spurs (8-6) with a 110-106 victory Tuesday night at Wells Fargo Arena despite leading by as many as 20 points in the fourth quarter.
Iowa Wolves controlled the game early and led for all but 1:16 of the contest. The Spurs made it a game though, clawing their way back to a two-point game with 0:12 seconds remaining.
Elijah Millsap tallied 23 points on the evening and finished 9-of-10 from the charity stripe.
The Wolves saw solid backcourt play from Melo Trimble and Anthony Brown, who finished with 19 and 17 points respectively. Both shot 7-of-17 from the field in the team’s first win since November 19.
Amile Jefferson finished with 16 points and 17 rebounds, collecting his seventh double-double on the year.
As a team, the Wolves shot a blistering 50% (36-of-72) from the field and 52.4% (11-of-21) from deep.
All three bench players who saw action tonight finished with a positive plus/minus (+/-) rating, led by Perry Jones III’s 18-point, seven-rebound performance. It was Jones’ fifth straight game finishing in double figures.
Darrun Hilliard led all scorers on the evening as the two-way player poured in 33 points for the Spurs. Nick Johnson added 15 and Olivier Hanlan chipped in 13 points for Austin.
