MISSISSAUGA, Ontario — Raptors 905 (7-10) shut down the Salt Lake City (3-15) offense Monday night, defeating the Stars 99-87 at Hershey Centre. Eric Griffin led all scorers with 23 points for Salt Lake City, while Malcolm Miller scored 22 points and Lorenzo Brown recorded a 16-point, 14-assist double-double in the victory.
The 905 took control of the game early, limiting the Stars to 15 points while scoring 27 points in the opening quarter. The strong defence would carry into the second frame, holding Salt Lake City to 17 points for a first half total of 32 points. Miller led the 905 in the opening half with 16 points, while Griffin countered for the Stars with 12 points. The 905 head into the break leading Salt Lake City 49-32.
Griffin continued his solid offensive performance in the third quarter, leading all scorers with 11 points. All five 905 starters contributed offensively in the third to win the quarter 25-20 and take a 74-52 advantage into the final frame. Despite outscoring the 905 35-25 in the fourth, Salt Lake City didn’t threaten the 905 lead who went on to secure its seventh victory of the season.
