TAYLORSVILLE, Utah — The Salt Lake City Stars weren’t able to get into the win column to start the new year, losing to the Texas Legends 115-109.
Salt Lake City found themselves down by as many as 13 in the first half before cutting Texas’ lead to just five to head into the break. The third quarter saw seven lead changes and four ties with the Stars pulling ahead 88-87 to end the frame. Salt Lake City took a six-point lead two minutes into the final quarter before the Legends went on a 15-11 run to end the game.
The Stars shot a season high .457 on 16-of-35 shooting from behind the arc.
Taylor Braun led the Stars with 24 points, nine rebounds and six assists. Michael Qualls came off the bench to add 23 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the field and eight rebounds, while Naz Mitrou-Long added 21 points on .500 shooting from deep.
The Legends’ Justin Dentmon led all scorers with 35 points. Johnathan Motley chipped in 21 points and Wade Baldwin IV contributed 18 points.
