TAYLORSVILLE, Utah — The Salt Lake City Stars secured their first win of 2018 with a 104-103 victory over the Agua Caliente Clippers.
The game was a tale of two halves for the Stars. In the first half, Salt Lake City was down by as many as 18 before heading into the break. The Stars began the third quarter down by double-figures but went on a 15-7 run to close the frame down by four.
In the fourth, the Clippers extended their lead by as many as seven points, but Salt Lake City was able to tie it up with 21 seconds left to play on back-to-back threes. Chane Behanan fouled JJ O’Brien, who made his two free throws which gave the Clippers a one-point lead with 4.7 seconds left on the clock. Isaiah Cousins’ fed Erik McCree the ball, who drained a three-pointer with just under two seconds left to play to give the Stars the win.
Erik McCree paced the Stars with 23 points to go along with six assists. Behanan added 18 points, nine rebounds, three assists and two blocked shots. Isaiah Cousins (14) and Torian Graham (13) both came off the bench to score in double-digits.
The Clippers’ JJ O’Brien led all scorers with 32 points. LaDontae Henton added 19 points, while Ike Iroegbu contributed 14 points.
