LAKELAND, Fla. — The Lakeland Magic (13-9), the NBA G League affiliate of the Orlando Magic, fell 104-93 to the Santa Cruz Warriors (14-10) on Friday night, in front of a home crowd at the RP Funding Center.
The Warriors took the lead early on with the score 30-19 after the first quarter and would continue to outscore the Magic in all but the forth quarter holding off the Southeast Division leader.
Affiliate player Troy Caupain led the way for the Magic with 25 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists, while both two-way player Jamel Artis and assignee Khem Birch registered double-doubles with 13 points and 10 rebounds, and 10 points, and 12 rebounds respectively. Affiliate player Rodney Purvis also had an impressive outing with 21 points on the night.
For the Warriors, all starters scored in double digits with Waiver Claim Player, Terrence Jones tallying a game-high 24 points with 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Assignee Damian Jones had a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Two-way player Quinn Cook was recently assigned to Santa Cruz and proved to be a key contributor with 20 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists.
