The Lakeland Magic (16-16), the NBA G League affiliate of the Orlando Magic, came up short against the Agua Caliente Clippers (17-18) in front of a home crowd at the RP Funding Center with a final score of 121-110.
The Clippers took the lead early with the score 27-18 after the first quarter and would hold onto that lead going into the half 64-43. The Magic fought back outscoring the Clippers in the third 28-25 and had a surge of three-pointers in the fourth but were not able to overcome the early deficit.
Rodney Purvis led the way for the Magic with 27 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. Troy Caupain and Jamel Artis also had impressive nights with 22 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and 23 points, 4 rebounds and 1 assist respectively. Newcomer, Antonio Campbell played in front of a home crowd for the first time since joining the team and proved to have an impactful role contributing 18 points and 8 rebounds in roughly 19 minutes of play.
For the Clippers, J.J. O’Brien led the team in scoring with 26 points and 5 rebounds while LaDontae Henton had 25 points and 6 rebounds on the night.
