Raptors 905 (20-13) earned its 20th win of the season, defeating the Erie BayHawks (18-17) 103-97 Saturday night. Both 905 centres recorded double-doubles, Kennedy Meeks posting 14 points and 13 rebounds while Shevon Thompson added 14 points and 11 boards. Malcolm Miller spearheaded the 905 attack with a game-high 24 points. Erie was led by Jaylen Morris who recorded 20 points and two-way player Josh Magette who recorded a 15-point 10 assist double-double in the defeat.
After a tightly contested first quarter, Raptors 905 opened up a slight advantage by halftime, benefitting from six-point efforts from Meeks, Miller and Thompson in the second quarter. Despite a quarter-high eight points from Andrew White in the frame, Erie trailed 53-47 at the break.
Miller would continue to pace the 905 in the third quarter, scoring eight points to build the teams lead to 13 points headed to the fourth. The BayHawks made a push in the fourth quarter, powered by Morris’ 13-point effort in the frame. Erie trimmed the lead to five points with 1:20 remaining in the fourth but couldn’t complete the comeback, ending its five-game winning streak.
