LONG ISLAND, N.Y. — The Long Island Nets (21-16), the NBA G League affiliate of the Brooklyn Nets, defeated the Maine Red Claws (16-22) 105-98 on Wednesday night at NYCB LIVE, home of the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
Two-way guard Milton Doyle led the way for Long Island with a game-high 25 points, seven rebounds, eight assists and three steals in 40 minutes. Two-way forward James Webb III also contributed with 22 points, eight rebounds, two assists and three steals in 37 minutes after playing his last nine contests with the Brooklyn Nets.
Five other Long Island players also scored in double figures, including center Kamari Murphy who notched 12 points and 12 rebounds in 33 minutes for his team-leading sixth double-double of the season.
For the Red Claws, center Guerschon Yabusele, who is on assignment from the Boston Celtics, tallied a team-high 24 points with nine rebounds and two assists in 41 minutes. Four other players also scored in double figures for the visitors.
Long Island never trailed in the contest, leading by as many as 32 points at one time. After holding Maine to just 20 points and 17 points in the first two quarters respectively, the Nets took a 61-37 lead at the half. The Red Claws grabbed 61 points in the second half and were able to hold Long Island to 13 points in the fourth quarter to narrow the gap, but the Nets came away with their third straight win.
