Before each season, NBA G League teams hold open tryouts, searching for local talent to add to their rosters. Each team can then invite up to five players from its respective tryout to training camp that fall.
The tryouts represent the first step in the extensive process of putting together an NBA G League roster for the upcoming season.
Past local tryout success stories include Jonathon Simmons and David Nwaba, who made the Spurs’ and Lakers’ NBA G League teams via open tryout before climbing all the way on to the parent club’s NBA roster. (Simmons signed a multi-year deal with the Orlando Magic this offseason.)
See below for the current local tryouts scheduled leading up to the 2017-18 season.
