Former NBA G League guard, Russ Smith, has been making a splash all summer while playing overseas for Luoyang of the Chinese National Basketball League. The New York native leads the league with an average of 59.8 points per game. In his latest game with Luoyang, Smith scored a whopping 71 points and has averaged 70.3 PPG over his last three contests while leading the team to wins in each. Luoyang is currently fourth in the NBL standings with a record of 13-7.
Smith’s highest-scoring performance with Luoyang was in July, he scored 81 points, knocking down 25 field goals, 10 of which came from the three-point line.
This isn’t the first time Smith has made high-scoring headlines. Back in March of 2016, Smith scored a record-breaking 65 points for the Delaware 87ers. Smith, picked 47th overall in the 2014 NBA Draft by the Philadelphia 76ers, also spent time with the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, Iowa Energy (now Iowa Wolves).
