Player: Jaylen Adams

College: St. Bonaventure (2014-2018)

Height/Weight: 6-foot-2, 190 pounds

NBA Team/G League Affiliate: Atlanta Hawks/Erie BayHawks

College Breakdown: Jaylen Adams had one of the most dominant careers in St. Bonaventure/Atlantic 10 Conference history. During his senior campaign, Adams was named Co-Atlantic 10 Player of the Year and earned All-Atlantic 10 First Team honors. Adams averaged 19.1 points per game his senior year, which ranked 4th in the Atlantic 10, 5.2 assists per game (3rd) and 1.5 steals per game (7th). He had the second-highest 3-point percentage in the A-10 during the 2017-2018 season (43.6 percent). Adams ended his career at St. Bonaventure 3rd all-time in program history in assists and recorded 10 games of 30 points or more.

Scouting Report: Adams is a do-it-all point guard with a pretty complete overall game. He has the scoring ability to open up the floor for his teammates and always seems to find the best shot opportunity for whoever is with him on the court. Adams is a one-man fastbreak and has no problem finishing at the rim with contact. On the defensive end, Adams is excellent at getting in passing lanes, forcing turnovers and pushing the ball in transition. He’s also a terrific leader on and off the court, receiving praise for his leadership ability from past teammates and coaches alike. Adams played over 37 minutes per game in each of his final three seasons at St. Bonaventure and is ready to be a workhorse in the NBA and NBA G League.

Organizational Fit: Jaylen Adams’ 3-point prowess will immediately help an Erie BayHawks team that finished third-to-last in 3-point percentage a season ago (33.2 percent). His passing ability will only help fuel the BayHawks’ offensive machine that ranked 5th in the league last season in assists per game (24.2). Erie helped develop two-way player Josh Magette, who saw meaningful time in the NBA this past season.
