Four rookies who appeared in the NBA Development League last season were named Rising Stars on Wednesday.
Sophomores Clint Capela, Jordan Clarkson, Dwight Powell and Marcus Smart are among the 20 players who have been selected to play in the BBVA Rising Stars Challenge at All-Star 2016 in Toronto. The game will take place on Friday, Feb. 12 at Air Canada Centre.
From Wednesday’s release: “For the second consecutive year, the league’s annual showcase of premier young talent will pit 10 first- and second-year NBA players from the United States against 10 first- and second-year NBA players from around the world.”
Clarkson and Smart will suit up for the U.S. team, while Capela (Switzerland) and Powell (Canada) will join Team World.
Smart appeared in a rehab game with the Maine Red Claws while on the mend from an ankle injury last December.
