By Jack Maloney | May 9, 2016

The NBA Development League’s seventh annual Elite Mini Camp, a two-day scouting event featuring some of the league’s top prospects, tips off on May 9 at Chicago’s Quest Multisport gym with about 40 players scheduled to attend.

Before the NBA Draft’s top prospects converge in the “Windy City” for their Combine, the NBA D-League’s camp offers standouts from the past season another chance to perform in front of NBA team personnel in advance of Summer Leagues and 2016 training camps.

Past participants include Spurs guard Jonathon Simmons Sixers wing Hollis Thompson, Jazz wings Chris Johnson and Wizards wing Jarell Eddie. Seven of this year’s expected participants have NBA experience.

Here’s what the participants were up to on Day 1:

Defense wins championships.

Youssou Ndoye shows off his outside shot.

No wasted movements.

Plenty of NBA scouts keeping a close eye on the prospects.
