The Delaware 87ers defeated Raptors 905 by a score of 119-104 at the Bob Carpenter Center on Friday night.
The 87ers’ newest addition, Russ Smith, led the team with 37 points on 14-of-28 shooting in 28 minutes off the bench. Jordan McRae totaled 23 points on 8-of-16 shooting, while Juwan Staten chipped in 14 points and six assists in the win. Fellow newcomer Sam Thompson added 11 points and seven rebounds off the bench.
Raptors 905, were led by Ronald Robert’s 22-point, 10-rebound double-double. Scott Suggs played a team-high 40 minutes to produce 22 points, and Greg Smith notched a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds.
In the first quarter, McRae started off with eight points and two assists, leading the Sevens to a 28-25 advantage at the end of the opening period.
Smith heated up for Delaware with 10 points off the bench in the second quarter, which put the 87ers up 62-57 going into the half.
McRae went a 4-of-8 from the field on his way to 11 points in the third quarter, to put the 87ers ahead 83-77 headed into the final period.
Smith went off for 16 points in the fourth for Delaware, which staved off any 905 rally.
