NEWARK, Del. — The Delaware 87ers lost 127-112 to the Westchester Knicks on Tuesday at the Bob Carpenter Center.
Russ Smith led the 87ers (14-12) with 27 points off the bench on 11-of-24 from the field. Christian Wood scored 20 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, while David Laury III snatched a game-high 16 rebounds and totaled 10 points off the bench. Jordan McRae had an all-around game with 16 points, six rebounds, six assist, and four steals.
The Westchester Knicks (15-10) were led by Jimmer Fredette’s 27 points on 8-of-17 from the field and made all eight shots from the free-throw line. Travis Trice played a team-high 40 minutes while producing 18 points, six rebounds, and a team-high seven assists. Damien Inglis also contributed 17 points and 10 rebounds in the win.
McRae got the 87ers going with nine points and three assists to give the team a 27-26 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Smith went for 11 points off the bench in the second quarter to put the Sevens up 60-54 going into halftime.
Wood’s didn’t miss from the field in the third, good for 10 points as Delaware held a 93-90 lead at the end of three quarters of play.
In the final period, the Knicks scored 37 points, 15 of which came from the free throw line, and held the 87ers to 19 points as they closed out the game.
