BOISE, Idaho — The Idaho Stampede defeated the Los Angeles D-Fenders 129-116 on Monday night at CenturyLink Arena.
Idaho played the first half close, shooting 60.9 percent from the field to finish the half with a 68-61 lead. Idaho took control of the game in the third quarter, finishing the period with a 107-87 lead. The D-Fenders started the fourth quarter on an 8-0 run, however they were unable to close the gap as the Stampede went on to extend their lead to 21 points.
“We played really well out of the gate and maintained it,” said Stampede Head Coach Dean Cooper. “We had both good ball and person movement tonight and were able to cut off the D-Fenders game plan.”
It was a team effort for Idaho, as six players scored in double-figures. J.J. O’Brien led the Stampede, registering a career-high 30 points, five rebounds and eight assists. Phil Pressey recorded his third double-double of the season with a career-high 13 assists and 20 points. Tibor Pleiss registered his fourth double-double of season with a career-high 18 rebounds and 14 points. Corey Hawkins (career-high 18 points) and Jeremy Williams (16 points) combined for 34 points. Treveon Graham had a near double-double with 17 points and nine assists off the bench.
Vander Blue led the D-Fenders, registering a game-high 37 points, five rebounds and five assists. Justin Harper added 19 points while Ryan Gomes recorded 18 points and eight rebounds. Robert Upshaw (14 points) and Josh Magette (12 points and six rebounds) combined for 26 points.
