Portland, Maine – The Iowa Energy (21-23) won 123-106 over the Maine Red Claws (28-17) Friday night at the Portland Expo.
The Energy were led by James Ennis with 30 points and 13 rebounds. Andrew Harrison added 21 points, six rebounds and six assists. The Red Claws were led by Levi Randolph with 28 points, 15 rebounds and five assists.
It was a fast paced back and forth start to the game. Iowa and Maine tied four times and exchanged the lead fives times in the first quarter. D.J. Stephens and Ennis led Iowa with seven points. Maine held a 24-22 lead heading into the second quarter. Andrew Harrison got hot in the second leading Iowa with nine points. The Red Claws were able to build a brief eight-point lead, but the Energy were quick to answer and came back to tie the game. Maine held a two-point advantage at halftime, leading 60-58.
The Energy brought out the intensity to start the second half. Iowa was able to regain the lead early in the third. The Energy would then build a 17-point lead over the Red Claws. Iowa shot 60 percent in the third, leading the Energy to outscore the Red Claws 36-17 in the quarter. The Energy continued to control the game in the fourth. Iowa was able to maintain a double-digit lead during the fourth as Ennis continued to lead the Energy offense. Iowa’s defense forced 21 turnovers in the game by Maine while the offense shot 51 percent as they cruised to a 123-106 win.
