MISSISSAUGA, Ontario — Bruno Caboclo and C.J. Leslie recorded double-doubles as Raptors 905 (2-0) beat the Long Island Nets (1-3) 117-83. Caboclo led the team with 17 points and seven blocks while Leslie grabbed a game high 12 rebounds.
Eight players scored in double figures for Raptors 905 as the team shot 50.6 per cent from the field and outrebounded the Nets 55-33. Caboclo’s seven blocks set a franchise record, improving on his previous mark of six.
Carrick Felix of the Nets lead all scorers with 20 points while Egidijus Mockevicius collected a team-high eight rebounds.
Raptors 905 started the game on an 11-0 run, eight from Bruno Caboclo, forcing the Nets into an early deficit. Long Island would trim the lead to one point before an 8-0 run late in the first frame helped Raptors 905 end the quarter leading 33-21.
Both teams scored 30 points in the second quarter and headed into half with 905 leading 63-51. Strong defensive play defined the third quarter as Raptors 905 held its opponent to 20 per cent shooting from the field, increasing the lead to 22 by quarters end.
Jarrod Uthoff would score 10 points in the final frame, shooting 4-5 from the field and 2-3 from 3-point range, as the 905 lead would swell to 40 points. Antwaine Wiggins would add nine of his 13 points in the fourth, to close out the victory for Raptors 905.
