AUSTIN, Texas — The Austin Spurs (7-11), presented by SWBC, fell to the Texas Legends (10-6), 130-125 at the H-E-B Center at Cedar Park Wednesday evening.
San Antonio Spurs assignee Bryn Forbes scored a team season-high 35 points (15-23 FG, 3-3 FT), along with 4 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals in 36 minutes. Off the bench, Dan Nwaelele contributed 20 points (7-11 FG, 5-7 3P) in 22 minutes in just his second game as a Spur. Charles Garcia and Cory Jefferson also pitched in 12 points each.
The first quarter stayed close and ended in a tie at 32-32. After eight lead changes, the Legends began to pull away and ended the first half with a 13 point lead. The deficit widened to as many as 21 points with only 9 minutes left in the fourth quarter. The Spurs attempted a comeback highlighted with three-pointers from Jeff Ledbetter and Nwaelele that got them as close as just 3 points behind with 19 seconds left in the game.
Manny Harris led the Legends with 47 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Jameel Warney recorded a double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds.
