MISSISSAUGA, Ont. — Raptors 905 (26-9) turned in an impressive effort Thursday night, defeating the Erie BayHawks (11-24) 129-108. Fred VanVleet led the 905 with game-high 26 points and game-high 11 assists while Pascal Siakam contributed 15 points and a game-high 12 rebounds in the victory. Kalin Lucas scored 20 points off the BayHawks bench in the loss.
The 905 opened the game with a strong quarter, shooting 50 percent en route to a 31-22 advantage after the opening 12 minutes. Siakam, on assignment from the Toronto Raptors, lead the team with six points in the frame. Anthony Brown opened the game scoring seven points for the BayHawks.
The second quarter would begin with extended runs from both sides. Erie opened the frame with a 9-0 run to tie the game, immediately followed by an 11-0 run from the 905 to reestablish its lead. Kalin Lucas scored eight points for Erie in the quarter, while VanVleet recorded 11 points to lead the 905 to a 69-49 advantage headed into halftime.
In the third, Raptors 905 would extend its advantage, building a 23-point lead by the end of the frame. VanVleet continued his inspired play, putting the finishing touches on his 26-point game with a 12-point third quarter. Brown once again led Erie, scoring seven points, while Robert Vaden contributed six points off the bench.
Erie would outscore the 905 33-31 in the final 12 minutes of play, with Gabe York contributing eight points. Yanick Moreira matched Gabe York’s eight points while also grabbing four rebounds in the final quarter to secure the 905 victory.
