PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. — Down four points with :47 remaining, the Iowa Wolves (1-3) scored on their next two possessions to force overtime before being outscored 7-2 in the extra period, losing 124-119 against the Northern Arizona Suns (2-1).
It was the team’s second loss in three days to the Suns.
Two-way player Anthony Brown scored a season-high 33 points and pulled down 10 rebounds, collecting his first double-double of the season. Brown was 11-of-18 from the field, including a perfect 9-of-9 from the free throw line.
Amile Jefferson earned his fourth consecutive double-double, scoring 27 points while hauling in a game-high 17 rebounds. The forward did most of his damage in the first half, recording 22 points and eight boards. It was Jefferson’s second straight game of at least 25 points scored.
Coming off a career night for Northern Arizona on Thursday, Askia Booker followed up his performance by recording a game-high 34 points to go along with six rebounds, five assists and two steals.
Phoenix Suns’ assignee Derrick Jones Jr. contributed 24 points, 13 rebounds, five assists and two steals in his second consecutive outing with Northern Arizona.
The Wolves’ dropped their second straight contest in Prescott Valley despite shooting over 50% in both games. Iowa (43-of-84, 51.2%; 24-of-30, 80%) outshot the Suns (43-of-86, 50%) from the field and from the free throw line (18-of-25, 72%) Saturday night.
Jarvis Williams gave the Wolves a much-needed boost off the bench, scoring a season-high 13 points.
Elijah Millsap continued his offensive ways, providing 19 points in his second start of the season. Point guard Melo Trimble added 14 points and four assists.
