OKLAHOMA CITY — The Oklahoma City Blue (2-2) defeated the Texas Legends (2-2) 122-118 on Tuesday evening.
The fourth quarter came down to the wire after the Legends stormed back from as many as 18 points down to take a 116-115 lead. Late free throws by Daniel Hamilton and Markel Brown helped seal the victory.
Oklahoma City’s scoring attack was led by Hamilton and Thunder assignment player Terrance Ferguson. Hamilton finished the game with his second career triple-double of 24 points, 10 assists, and 10 rebounds. Ferguson finished the game with 24 points and five rebounds.
“(Ferguson) was phenomenal in terms of just coming in, being one of the guys, playing the system on offense, playing the system on defense,” Blue coach Mark Daigneault said. “He is a mature professional beyond his age for sure. Great teammate, great listener, very engaged.”
The Blue started the game with 11 unanswered points and ended the first quarter with a 37-29 lead. The Blue’s lead grew to 18, but the Texas Legends went on a run that cut the lead to 12 with a halftime score of 68-56. Ferguson had 13 points and three rebounds at the half, including three shots from beyond the arc.
The Legends opened the third quarter with a 20-8 run, tying the game at 76 apiece. Two-way player PJ Dozier then ignited a run that put Oklahoma City back on top 94-85 after three quarters of play. Dozier finished the game with nine points, three assists, and three rebounds.
The Texas Legends were led by Johnathan Motley who posted a game-high 27 points.
