December 26, 2017 (GREENSBORO, N.C.) – Malik Monk scored a team-high 25 points to lead the Greensboro Swarm over the Wisconsin Herd, 103-96, in Tuesday’s midday matinee at the Fieldhouse at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex. Monk, who was assigned to Greensboro a day ago, had 15 of his points in the second half to go with game totals of eight rebounds and four assists.
The Swarm (8-12) trailed by seven points after the first quarter but would outscore Wisconsin, 66-48, in the second and third quarters to pull away. In addition to Monk, Greensboro had guard Terry Henderson (17 points), guard Archie Goodwin (12), center L.G. Gill (11) and forward Luke Petrasek all score in double digits.
The Herd (12-8) were led by two 20-point scorers, guard Xavier Munford (26 points) and center Joel Bolomboy (20). Wisconsin outscored the Swarm 62-40 in the paint but were held to just 3-for-30 shooting from long range. Overall the Herd were held to 37.6 percent shooting.
Greensboro held the lead at half, 54-50, before extending its lead in the third quarter by virtue of the three-point shot. The Swarm hit eight triples in the frame, four coming from Monk. Henderson hit two from deep range as well, he finished the night with four three-pointers.
Gill and center Mangok Mathiang flirted with double-doubles. In addition to his 11 points, Gill had nine rebounds while Mathiang ended the game with eight points and nine rebounds.
