OSHKOSH, Wis. . — The Wisconsin Herd, the NBA G League affiliate of the Milwaukee Bucks (13-8), outpaced the Greensboro Swarm (8-13) and claimed a 125-115 win in the teams’ rematch. Greensboro previously defeated the Herd (103-96) on Tuesday, Dec. 26.
The Swarm’s largest lead in the game was a five-point advantage early in the first quarter. Wisconsin pulled ahead by nine (31-22) after the first 12 minutes. The Herd withstood a 22 point quarter by Charlotte Hornets’ assignee Dwayne Bacon, and held the lead for the remainder of the game. Greensboro rallied back from a 12 point deficit (91-79) at the start the fourth quarter and closed the gap to one point in the final six minutes. The Herd responded with 15 unanswered points to seal the victory.
Wisconsin’s balanced attack included five players scoring in double-digits. Cliff Alexander led the Herd from the bench posting 29 points in 26 minutes. Cameron Oliver (10 points, 18 rebounds) and Xavier Munford (19 points, 11 assists) notched double-doubles for the Herd. James Young contributed 28 points in 37 minutes of play. Shannon Brown finished the night with a season-high 15 points.
In his NBA G League debut, Bacon led all scorers with 45 points. He added nine rebounds and five assists in 38 minutes. Mangok Mathiang notched a double-double for Greensboro, scoring 18 points and hauling in 16 rebounds in 34 minutes. Marcus Paige posted 20 points for the Swarm.
