DES MOINES, Iowa — Amile Jefferson posted a team-high 24 points, 16 rebounds and six assists to power the Iowa Wolves (9-9) past the Delaware 87ers (6-14) 107-99 Friday night.
The Wolves have now won seven of their last eight games and are tied atop the Southeast Division with the Oklahoma City Blue.
Despite trailing by as many as nine points in the first quarter, the Wolves used a 24-5 run in the second quarter and never trailed again after the 9:58 mark.
Jefferson shot an efficient 10-of-12 from the field while leading his team to victory.
Four starters tallied at least 15 points for the Wolves. Perry Jones III posted 16 points and seven rebounds while shooting a perfect 2-of-2 from deep.
Anthony Brown and Melo Trimble added 17 points and 15 points respectively.
The Wolves’ bench proved to be the difference in the game, finishing with a combined +47 in box score plus/minus.
Michael Bryson was an instant spark for Iowa, tallying 10 points and two assists as a reserve. Shawne Williams added nine points on 4-of-6 shooting and Wes Washpun contributed seven points.
As a team, the Wolves limited the 87ers to just 37.4% shooting from the field and 29.0% from deep.
The Wolves look to finish 2017 on a high note as they take on the Greensboro Swarm tomorrow night at Wells Fargo Arena at 7:00 p.m.
