MISSISSAUGA, Ontario — The Oklahoma City Blue (16-11) defeated the Long Island Nets (14-12) 121-110 to go 2-0 at the NBA G League Showcase 2018.
After a close first quarter, the Blue shot 59.3 percent from the field in the second period to score 42 points and enter halftime with a 65-49 advantage over the Nets. Long Island responded in the third and went 7-of-14 from beyond the arc to enter the final period down by just six. Oklahoma City however made 21-of-25 free throws in the fourth to secure the victory.
“They played really well and they kept coming but I thought our guys showed great resiliency,” said Head Coach Mark Daigneault. “I was happy with how we performed.”
Two-way player Daniel Hamilton led the Blue in scoring with 22 points and added 11 assists and seven rebounds. On assignment from the Thunder, center Dakari Johnson notched 21 points and 11 rebounds to also log a double-double while Bryce Alford came off the bench for 18 points and went 5-of-7 from three-point range.
The Nets’ Jeremy Senglin had a game-high 29 points and shot 58.8 percent from the field. Reserve Isaiah Whitehead added 22 for Long Island.
Oklahoma City returns to action next Friday, Jan. 19 at 7 p.m. against the Reno Bighorns at the Cox Convention Center.
