FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Fort Wayne Mad Ants (20-14) defeated the Long Island Nets (18-16), 108-91, at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum on Saturday night in front of a sellout crowd of 4,997. Walt Lemon Jr. led the Mad Ants with 26 points, seven rebounds and five assists. It was his 20th game finishing in double figures this season.
Jarrod Uthoff finished with 22 points, nine rebounds, four assists and a team-high plus/minus ratio at +26.
The Mad Ants came out of the game on a 12-4 run to and never trailed throughout the entire game. The Mad Ants shot 56.5 percent in the opening quarter and grew the lead to as large as 14.
The second quarter provided the Mad Ants to cushion the lead after shooting 24-of-48 in the first 24 minutes of action. Perimeter defense aided the Mad Ants holding the Nets to 3-of-18 from beyond the arc in the first half.
After halftime, Fort Wayne began the third quarter on a 14-6 run, led by five points from Lemon. Uthoff finished with 10 points to add to his total, while Lemon tallied nine and increased his total to 21 for the game.
The Mad Ants tied its season-best 53 rebounds and outrebounded Long Island by 12.
The Nets were paced by 24 points on 10-of-26 shooting from Isaiah Whitehead. Akil Mitchell finished with a double-double of 13 points and 12 assists.
