OSHKOSH, Wis. (Feb. 9, 2018) – The Wisconsin Herd (17-19), the NBA G League affiliate of the Milwaukee Bucks, dropped a 102-78 contest to the Grand Rapids Drive (19-18) at Menominee Nation Arena.
The Herd took control in the first quarter and finished with a 15-point lead after holding the Drive to 11 points in the opening frame. Grand Rapids’ guard KJ McDaniels tied the game (36-36) with 5:12 remaining in the half. The Drive went on to outscore the Herd 41-16 and closed the first half with a 10 point advantage (52-42). Wisconsin was unable to answer in the second half.
James Blackmon Jr. led the Herd in scoring with 18 points in 36 minutes. Bucks assignee D.J. Wilson recorded eight points and hauled in a season-high 15 rebounds for the Herd. Michael Dunigan contributed 13 points from the bench in 21 minutes.
McDaniels led all scorers, posting 23 points in 31 minutes from the bench. Grand Rapids’ bench contributed 62 points, including 17 points by University of Wisconsin alumnus Bronson Koenig. Detroit Pistons Two-Way player Kay Felder added 17 points for the Drive.
The Herd plays the second game of its back-to-back home stand against the Long Island Nets on Saturday, Feb. 10.
