LONG ISLAND — The Long Island Nets (23-18), the NBA G League affiliate of the Brooklyn Nets, fell 129-114 to the Windy City Bulls (19-22) on Friday night at NYCB LIVE, home of the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. It was the second meeting between the two teams, with the season series now tied at 1-1.
Brooklyn Nets assignee Isaiah Whitehead led Long Island with 24 points (9-of-19 FG, 3-of-6 3FG, 3-of-4 FT), three rebounds, four assists and two steals in 28 minutes. Two-way Nets guard Milton Doyle recorded 23 points, eight boards and four assists in 40 minutes in the loss, while two-way Nets forward James Webb III added 22 points, nine rebounds, three steals and four blocks in 36 minutes in the effort.
Windy City got off to a strong start, shooting 48 percent from the field and outscoring Long Island 32-11 in the first quarter. The Nets answered and outscored the Bulls decisively in the second and third quarters by a combined 77-52 points, leading by as many as seven points multiple times in the third quarter. Windy City surged ahead again in the fourth quarter and never looked back, outscoring Long Island 45-26 on 73.9 percent shooting from the field to earn the victory.
Two-way Bulls guard Antonio Blakeney posted a double-double with a game-high 41 points (15-of-25 FG, 4-of-9 3FG, 7-of-8 FT) and a game-high 11 rebounds in 39 minutes. Chicago Bulls assignee Jarell Eddie (20 points), Windy City guard Alex Hamilton (19 points) and Windy City forward Tyler Harris (18 points) also all scored in double figures for the Bulls in the win.
Long Island and Windy City will face off again at NYCB LIVE on Sunday, 3/4, at 3 p.m. ET in the two teams’ final meeting of the season.
