WESTCHESTER, N.Y. — Raptors 905 continued its quest to defend its G League title, advancing to the Eastern Conference Final with a 92-80 victory over the Westchester Knicks Monday night.
Lorenzo Brown continued to be the catalyst for the 905 attack, recording 18 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists. Kennedy Meeks (13 points, 14 rebounds) and Alfonzo McKinnie (10 points, 11 rebounds) contributed double-doubles for the 905. Isaiah Hicks scored a game-high 23 points for the Knicks, who also received a 20-point effort from New York Knicks assignment player Damyean Dotson.
Westchester jumped out to a big lead early, courtesy of an 11-0 run in the first quarter, giving the Knicks a 13-2 advantage. The 905 settled in after that, pulling to within one point, 48-47, at the half.
The Knicks benefitted from a trio of double-digit scorers in the opening half. Dotson and Hicks led the way with 13 points apiece, while Billy Garrett added 10 points off the bench. Brown led the 905 with nine points at the half, who also received eight-point efforts from Davion Berry, McKinnie and Shevon Thompson.
After a gritty third quarter effort from both clubs, the teams entered the fourth quarter with Raptors 905 leading by two, 66-64. In the final frame the 905 clamped down, holding the Knicks to 16 points in the quarter, while a balanced scoring effort saw the 905 pull away in the final minutes to secure the victory.
The win secures the 905’s place in the Eastern Conference Final for the second straight season. Raptors 905 will play the winner of tomorrow night’s contest between the Erie BayHawks and Fort Wayne Mad Ants. The game will be on the road for Raptors 905 and take place on Friday, April 6 at 8 p.m. with broadcast information to follow.
