AUSTIN, Texas — The Austin Spurs (1-0), presented by SWBC, defeated the Rio Grande Valley Vipers 117-91 at the H-E-B Center at Cedar Park Monday night and advanced to the 2018 NBA G League Western Conference Finals. Austin held Rio Grande Valley to a season-low 91 points.
Derrick White, on assignment from San Antonio, led the team with 20 points, 6 assists and 4 rebounds in 30 minutes. Two-way player, Darrun Hilliard, added 19 points and 4 rebounds in 29 minutes.
Both teams kept it close in the first quarter with three lead changes and five ties. The Spurs used a late 12-1 run in second quarter to go into halftime up 63-45. The Spurs had their largest lead of the game 99-68 following an 11-0 run at the end of the third quarter and starting the fourth.
For the Vipers (1-1), two-way player RJ Hunter led the team with 20 points and 3 assists in 27 minutes, while Monte Morris contributed with 15 points and 3 assists in 22 minutes.
