Nick Johnson and Jeff Ledbetter came off the bench to lead a barrage from 3-point range, combining for 33 points to pace the Austin Spurs to a 98-76 win over Raptors 905 to claim the 2018 NBA G League championship.
Johnson, who scored 17 for the second straight game in the Spurs’ 2-0 title sweep, took home G League Finals MVP honors. Together with Ledbetter and Olivier Hanlan, the Spurs’ bench outscored 905’s, 47-26.
Austin pulled away in the second half on the strength of its work behind the arc, paced by Johnson and Ledbetter’s combined 9-for-12 effort from deep. In total, Austin made 15 treys at a 37 percent clip, compared to Raptors 905’s 2-for-27 mark.
Five players scored in double-figures for Austin, which won its second title in team history two days after the San Antonio Spurs clinched their record 21st straight postseason appearance.
