WASHINGTON, D.C. – Chris Chiozza’s career night proved enough as the Capital City Go-Go (14-9) won their sixth-straight game, defeating the Long Island Nets (17-7), 114-106, in Southeast, D.C.
Chiozza scored a career-high 30 points to lead the Go-Go, 24 of which came in the second half. After a back-and-forth first half, the point guard’s 19 points in the third quarter helped the Go-Go push to an 81-61 lead late in the frame, Capital City’s largest lead of the game. With the big quarter, Chiozza locked down his second-consecutive 20-point performance.
The short-handed Nets, playing with just seven players tonight, were able to close the game within three with 6:24 remaining in the fourth after a Thomas Wimbush made three, but a quick 9-1 run for the Go-Go capped by a Troy Brown Jr. lay-in ultimately put the game out of reach.
Wizards’ two-way player Jordan McRae added 22 points and six rebounds in the contest for his sixth-straight 20-plus-point performance and 15th overall of the season. Isaiah Armwood tallied his third double-double in the last five games with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Pe’Shon Howard (16 points) and Wizards’ assignment player Troy Brown Jr. (10 points) also scored in double figures for the Go-Go.
Shannon Scott had 11 points, 11 rebounds and a season-high-tying 20 assists, for his second triple-double in the last week to lead the Nets. Thomas Wimbush had 26 points and 11 rebounds, his fourth 20-point game of the season and his third double-double. Okaro White scored 23 points to go along with nine rebounds for his second 20-point game of the season. Kamari Murphy (13 points), Nuni Omot (12 points) and Drew Gordon (12 points) all scored in double-figures as well.
