The Texas Legends (11-20) took the first two of a three-game homestand with a victory over the Austin Spurs (14-16) 111-103 Wednesday night in Frisco.
Keith Hornsby earned the first points for Texas, knocking down a long ball seconds into the game. Travis Trice II responded with an outside shot of his own for Austin and the back and forth began. The Spurs regained the lead early in the second, but Texas responded with a 21-2 run to take their largest lead of the night 52-34. After four scoreless minutes, Demetri McCamey got the Spurs back on the board and cut the deficit to 13 at the break.
Texas continued to dominate the third, answering every attempt from the visitors. Austin’s hot outside shooting caught up at the end of the quarter and brought the Spurs within seven. Daryl Macon hit the free throw line for his first two of 11 fourth-quarter attempts and built the gap back to double-digits early, but the Spurs answered outside to find themselves back on top with 2:34 to play.
