LAKELAND, Fla. — The Lakeland Magic, NBA G League affiliate of the Orlando Magic, defeat the Maine Red Claws 130-101, in front of a home crowd at the RP Funding Center.
It was a back-and-forth contest at the start of the game but the Magic would chip away early to gain a 17 point lead with 2:29 left in the first quarter. The Red Claws fought back to get within 10 points with the score 32-22 going into the second. The Magic increased their lead to 16 points on a three pointer by Jeremiah Hill with 8:55 remaining and would take the 60-47 lead into the locker room at the half.
Lakeland continued the momentum with an explosive third quarter outscoring the Red Claws 39-23 to secure a 29 point lead heading into the fourth. Both the Magic and Red Claws posted 31 points in the fourth for a final score 130-101. The Magic shot 52-percent from the three compared to the Red Claws 38-percent and 55-percent from the field compared to the Red Claws 41-percent.
The Magic had seven players in double digits. Local Tryout Player, Jeremiah Hill, came off the bench to lead the way with an explosive career high 30 points (8-11 from the three). BJ Johnson had 21 points and 8 rebounds. Anthony Brown had 16 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Braian Angola had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Antonio Campbell had 12 points and 5 rebounds. Troy Caupain posted 12 points and 4 rebounds.
For the Red Claws, RJ Hunter scored 26 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Andrew White III had 17 points and 4 rebounds. Archie Goodwin was just shy of the double-double with 10 points and 9 rebounds. Jeff Robertson scored 10 points on the night.
