OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — The South Bay Lakers closed the game on a 15-2 run as they beat the Oklahoma City Blue, 113-110, on Saturday afternoon. Scott Machado tallied 17 points and 11 assists for South Bay (14-22), while Justin Harper added 19 points off the bench. KJ McDaniels led the Blue (25-12) with 23 points off the bench.
Marcus Allen poured in 10 points in the first quarter, but the Lakers trailed by eight, 30-22, through one. Hamidou Diallo led the Blue with eight points in the opening frame. South Bay battled back in the second quarter to take a 59-56 lead at the half. Andre Ingram scored 13 points in the second period to push the Lakers ahead.
Oklahoma City retook the lead through three, 84-78, as Diallo scored eight points in the frame. Alex Caruso paced the Lakers with seven points in the frame. The Lakers trailed by 10 with four minutes to go but outscored the Blue by 13 in the closing minutes to win the game. Machado scored 10 points and Harper scored nine, including the go-ahead three, to give the Lakers the road victory.
McDaniels finished with a game-high 23 points and Diallo tallied 21 points and eight rebounds. Chris Wright (13 points), Bryce Alford (11 points) and Dez Wells (11 points) all scored in double figures for Oklahoma City.
Machado’s double-double and Harper’s clutch scoring paced the Lakers, while Allen scored a team-high 20 points. Caruso finished with 19 points, five rebounds and six assists as Isaac Bonga added nine points, seven rebounds, two steals and three blocks. Ingram also finished the game in double figures with 14 points.
