EL SEGUNDO – The South Bay Lakers outscored the Austin Spurs by 29 points in the second half as they grabbed a 115-95 victory on Friday night. Johnathan Williams finished with 25 points and nine rebounds while Scott Machado added a 22-point, 10-assist double-double for the Lakers (15-24) in the big win. Drew Eubanks paced the Spurs (16-21) with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Williams got off to a hot start, scoring 14 points in the first quarter, but the Lakers still trailed by three, 35-32, after one. The Spurs ended the half with 12 three-pointers and entered the break with a 60-51 lead behind 14 points in the half from Devon Bookert.
South Bay took a three-point lead going into the fourth quarter, 82-79, behind eight points from Machado and 14 combined from Marcus Allen and Williams. South Bay’s bench led the charge in the fourth quarter, helping the Lakers outscore the Spurs by 17 points in the period, to put the stamp on the 20-point win.
Eubanks led the way with his double-double while Bookert finished with a team-high 16 points off the bench. Josh Huestis scored 14 points and Maverick Rowan also scored in double figures with 11 points.
Williams scored a game-high 25 points, his 11th 20-point outing of the year, and Machado tallied his seventh double-double of the season. Jemerrio Jones grabbed his 10th career double-double with 10 points, 13 rebounds, two assists and four steals off the bench. Allen (12 points) and Andre Ingram (11 points) also reached double figures for the Lakers.
