SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake City Stars, the official NBA G League affiliate of the Utah Jazz, defeated the Memphis Hustle 110-94 tonight at Bruin Arena to improve to 23-21 (.523) on the season.
The Stars were led by Utah Jazz two-way player Tyler Cavanaugh, who recorded game-highs of 26 points and nine rebounds, connecting on 5-of-6 (.833) from three-point range. Deonte Burton logged his second 20-point game of the season with 21 points, while Utah Jazz two-way player Naz Mitrou-Long tallied 12 points, six rebounds and a team-high five assists. Jairus Lyles led all Stars reserves with 14 points.
The Hustle (23-21) were led by Dusty Hannahs, who scored 20 points. Jevon Carter, currently on assignment from the Memphis Grizzlies, tallied 14 points and a game-high seven assists, and Tarik Phillip finished with 15 points and a team-high-tying seven boards. Markel Crawford led the Hustle bench in scoring with 16 points.
The Stars led by one point (43-42) with 8:37 remaining in the first half and went on a 14-1 run to own a 14-point advantage (57-43) with 3:57 left in the second frame. The Hustle trimmed the lead to single digits, but the Stars responded to Memphis’ run and built a 19-point lead (108-89) late in the fourth period, ultimately winning by 16 points.
