SOUTHAVEN, Miss. — The Oklahoma City Blue (33-16) beat the Memphis Hustle (28-22), 120-96, on Friday night.
The Blue took its largest lead of the game at 27 points after a layup from two-way player Donte Grantham with two minutes left in the game. Memphis could never cut into Oklahoma City’s double-digit lead, as the Blue won the season series 3-1.
Grantham was one of nine players in double figures for Oklahoma City, scoring 10 points in the fourth quarter and finishing with 17 points and five rebounds. Scotty Hopson led the Blue with 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting.
Oklahoma City led from the opening tip after a three from Abdul Gaddy on the first possession of the game. After Memphis cut its deficit to single digits, the Blue went on a 13-5 run to close out the first half and took a 15-point halftime lead. Chris Wright scored eight points in the second quarter, as the Blue’s bench outscored the Hustle’s, 18-10, in the quarter.
Wright scored 11 points to go with seven rebounds off the bench, while Gaddy tallied 10 points, five assists and four rebounds. Memphis was led by 20 points from Dusty Hannahs off the bench.
Oklahoma City scored 64 points in the paint to the Hustle’s 50 and dished 27 assists to Memphis’ 12.
The Blue plays its final regular season home game tomorrow, Saturday, March 23 versus the Austin Spurs at 7 p.m. in the Cox Convention Center.
