COLLEGE PARK, Ga. – The Canton Charge (7-3), powered by the Cleveland Cavaliers, bounced back after last night’s 30-point defeat with a 110-100 victory over the College Park Skyhawks (4-5) at the Gateway Center Arena on Saturday night.
Sheldon Mac has come off the bench to score 20+ in four of the last six games, including tonight’s game-high 28 on 9-of-11 shooting with eight boards in 31 minutes. Levi Randolph posted his seventh career double-double and first of the season with an effort of 17 points and 11 rebounds in 42 minutes. J.P. Macura scored 19 points and nabbed three steals with five rebounds in 29 minutes. Malik Newman scored 12 points and Dean Wade added 10 points and five rebounds.
The Skyhawks picked up where they left off last night by nailing 6-of-15 threes in the first quarter and getting out to a lead of as many as 13. A back-and-forth second quarter saw six lead changes, with Canton pulling within 59-57 at the half. A 14-3 Charge run in the final 3:47 of the third quarter saw Canton surge ahead 84-76 and never again relinquish the lead. Mac scored 12 points himself in the third on 5-of-5 from the field. The Charge surrendered just nine turnovers in the final three quarters after giving up seven in the first quarter alone.
College Park was led by Charlie Brown’s 23 points, 12 rebounds and two steals in 42 minutes. Brandon Goodwin had 15 points, six boards and seven assists in 35 minutes. Cat Barber came off the bench to supply 18 points and seven assists in 29 minutes for the Skyhawks. Jordan Sibert added 16 points and a pair of steals in 29 minutes.
