LAS VEGAS, — The Texas Legends tipped off Day Three of the 2019 MGM Resorts NBA G League Winter Showcase with a 122-115 win over the South Bay Lakers despite an impressive performance from the Lakers’ Devontae Cacok.
After entering the half up just 65-64, Texas pulled away in the third quarter, outscoring South Bay 30-16 led by Nate Mason’s 10 points on 5-for-7 shooting. Mason would finish the game with 22 points and 12 assists, while fellow starting guard and two-way player Josh Reaves had a team-high 23 points.
Lakers’ rookie Cacok netted a game-high 32 points on 16-for-25 from the field and grabbed 16 rebounds, all career-highs for the forward. Cacok has now averaged 23.5 points and 13.5 rebounds over the past four games since signing a two-way contract with the Los Angeles Lakers on Dec. 11.
Texas improves to 10-8 with today’s victory. South Bay drops just below .500 to 8-9 with the loss.
