WHITE PLAINS, NY – The Westchester Knicks, the official NBA G League affiliate of the New York Knicks, saw its longest win streak of the season stopped at three games to the Erie BayHawks, 121-114, Saturday evening at Westchester County Center.
Perimeter shooting encouraged Erie’s eight-point lead at the intermission, 59-51. The BayHawks (6-13) connected on nine of their 24 tries contrasting Westchester’s 3-of-15 showing. Javon Bess (3), Aubrey Dawkins (2) and Josh Gray (2) converted from behind the arc to lead Erie.
The Knicks (8-10) battled back in the third outscoring the visitors, 30-23, and filling all but one of their deficit, 82-81 after 36 minutes. Westchester shot over 50-percent from the field and from downtown while keeping Erie at under 35-percent and at 20-percent from distance. Knicks’ JJ Moore registered seven points on perfect shooting to lead all in the span.
The BayHawks credited an 11-point lead with just over eight minutes remaining in the game. Westchester made it just a two-possession game on the tail end of a 7-0 run, 97-93. Erie answered back, burying the Knicks by double-figures again, 108-98, with above three minutes to play. Despite Westchester getting back within single digits, the hosts just could not get over the hump falling in a seven-point decision.
Lamar Peters finished with a game-high 22 points and a team-high eight assists for the Knicks. Moore concluded the evening with 18 points in his start. 15 points and 13 rebounds summed up Two-Way Player Ivan Rabb’s double-double.
Jalen Adams and Dawkins mirrored 20 points for the BayHawks. Dawkins swished four triples on 80-percent and Adams dished a game-high nine dimes. Vitto Brown (19 PTS) and Zylan Cheatham (18 PTS) also contributed. Cheatham hauled 11 boards for his double-double.
